Why did you enter the 3M Young Scientist Challenge?
I applied to 3M Young Scientist Challenge to share my passion of STEM learning and research with others and to motivate younger students to achieve their true potential. Girls are underrepresented in STEM field in both high school/college level and later in professional careers and I want to reverse that trend.
What is your favorite invention of the last 100 years, and why?
My most favorite invention of last 100 years is undoubtedly the World Wide Web or Internet. It has immensely helped the global population have access to vast amounts of useful information that would have otherwise remained hidden in physical books and libraries. It has removed lot of barriers for even poorer nations to help educate their population and bring them into the workforce. It has leveled the playing field in terms of equal access to the same information all across the world using electronic devices that are getting cheaper year after year.
In 15 years I hope to be...
A successful STEM professional working in a technology company on some of the world’s hardest problems to improve the life of every person on earth.
“All human beings are capable of great things with the right opportunities at the right time.”
