Dr. Rohit Gupta

Research Specialist

3M Corporate Materials Research Laboratory

As a Product Development Specialist in the Automotive and Aerospace Division, Rohit focuses on engineering essential bonding solutions for assembling battery components in the electric vehicle domain. Prior to this, within the Corporate Materials Research Laboratory (CRML), Rohit collaborated with teams across 3M to innovate sustainable waterborne and fluorine-free release materials. These materials were designed for a diverse range of industrial and consumer products, aligning with 3M's corporate mission to decrease solvent dependency and remove hazardous chemicals from various product portfolios.

Rohit is passionate about sharing his enthusiasm for science with the next generation. He has served as a judge for the 3M Innovation Award at the Minnesota State Science and Engineering Fair and has mentored young scientists as part of several STEM mentoring initiatives. He has been an active member of the 3M Tech Forum community, serving as the CRML senator for two years and chairing the Education Committee. He has multiple patents pending and has been recognized with the Corporate Circle of Technical Excellence & Innovation Award for his work.

Rohit holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, as well as a B.S.-M.S. in Chemical Sciences from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research in Kolkata, India. He enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, and traveling when he is not in the lab.
