Dr. Rohit Gupta

Research Specialist

3M Corporate Materials Research Laboratory

As a research specialist in the Corporate Materials Research Laboratory, Rohit works with teams throughout 3M to develop sustainable release solutions for various industrial and consumer products. His research focuses on developing waterborne and fluorine-free release material alternatives to support 3M’s corporate commitment to reduce solvent usage and eliminate hazardous chemicals in diverse release applications.

Rohit is passionate about sharing his enthusiasm for science with the next generation. He served as a judge for the 3M Innovation Award at the Minnesota State Science and Engineering Fair and has mentored young scientists as part of several STEM mentoring initiatives. He has been an active member of the 3M Tech Forum community, serving as the Corporate Materials Research Laboratory senator for two years and chair of the Education Committee. He has multiple patents pending and won the Circle of Technical Experience & Innovation Award for his work.

Rohit holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and has a B.S.-M.S. in Chemical Sciences from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research in Kolkata, India. He enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, and traveling when he is not in the lab.

As a highly motivated and technically proficient research specialist, Rohit develops next-generation products and processes to reduce and eliminate the use of solvents and hazardous chemicals.
