Dr. Caitlin Race

Meet Caitlin. Dr. Caitlin Race is a research engineer in the Corporate Research Digital Lab at 3M. After a short career in semiconductors and flash memory, she pivoted to a PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, doing research focused on optical biosensors for cancer screening. Caitlin has spent the last six years at 3M leveraging her background in optical modeling and simulation by leading projects using machine learning to improve the design and function of optical films. Her team's past and current projects including generative models for optical metamaterials as well as optimization of both passive radiative cooling films and pavement marking beads.
