About the Idea

Meet Samarth. Samarth deployed edge computing and advance vision algorithms to help people with vision impairments cook with ease.

Why did you enter the 3M Young Scientist Challenge?

It enabled me to research the ideas that have been shared over the past several years. The information and videos on prior entries were very inspiring and reminded me of what young scientists can dream of and achieve. Also, the opportunity to work with a 3M Mentor is really fascinating to me, and I would love to brainstorm and get ideas for improvements and additions.

What is your favorite invention of the last 100 years, and why?

CRISPR, a technology that can alter genetic traits in humans, animals, and plants. I am very intrigued by its ability to delete undesirable traits and to cure diseases. It is my favorite invention because of its promising potential to be powerful and impactful to our society in so many ways.

In 15 years I hope to be...

a Computational Biologist/Data Scientist in the field of Bio Sciences. I have developed a very strong passion in the area of machine learning and truly want to solve real-world problems and invent new capabilities and solutions.
