TektonForecast AI Deep & Ensemble Learning Powered Earthquake Forecasting

About the Idea

Meet Rithvik. Rithvik is creating an alternate method to predict earthquakes using AI technology and identify sequences that will better forecast events in the future.

Why did you enter the 3M Young Scientist Challenge?

I entered the 3M Young Scientist Challenge because of my interest in presenting my notions and ideas to audiences, and to continuously develop and share my insights on problems to the world at my age. As I have entered in the 3M Young Scientist Challenge last year, I intend to continuously work on projects which tackle challenging issues with my perspective and insight. The 3M Young Scientist Challenge is an excellent way for all middle school students to exhibit their scientific passion and prowess, which continued to encourage me to apply.

What is your favorite invention of the last 100 years, and why?

My favorite invention of the last 100 years is the transistor, and the exploration of nanotechnology as a whole. Transistor have shaped our view on how we can manipulate electrical pulses into complex bits of information which can be understood by humans, and eventually, allows us to now create artificial intelligence, and the gate logic has been used in various fields of technology for a wide range of applications. Nanotechnology, as a whole, can possibly create technologies which may resemble magic in our view, with materials that are extremely strong, yet lightweight and can fit in our hands, allowing us to assemble basic nanobots which could fit in our bloodstream to fight diseases, and many more. The discovery and invention is absolutely incredible, and I can't wait to see what people will create with the new perspective and dimension when tackling problems.

In 15 years I hope to be...

In 15 years, I hope to become a Mechatronics Engineer, blending the various skillsets of prototyping into a broad range to be applied in various fields, allowing me to explore STEM and rapidly develop solutions to large-scale problems similar to my innovation. Software Engineering can teach one how to implement virtually any control system and experimental programs such as upcoming pieces of Artificial Intelligence. Electronics can aid in the hardware development to set such programs into an environment of action and benefit, to truly impact the world, such as IOT devices. Mechanics can help analyze and optimize the product development and mass production of these world-changing devices. Applying these perspectives of innovation into a startup to directly impact the world is a goal I aspire to hopefully accomplish to continue my work in many fields, due to my futuristic mindset. Businesses are the entities which can put such revolutionary pieces of technology into use sooner than later, which lead to the boom of new fields that change lives, and I hope to one day help pioneer this movement for the betterment of humanity reaching higher stages on the Kardeshev Scale.
