About the Idea

Meet Reshma. Reshma created a predictive model using machine learning and neural networks to predict and prevent the instances of forest fires.

Why did you enter the 3M Young Scientist Challenge?

I entered the challenge to further improve my model and figure out how to implement it by working with a 3M Scientist Mentor who would be able to provide professional guidance in achieving this.

What is your favorite invention of the last 100 years, and why?

My favorite invention of the last 100 years is the Internet because it gives people all over the world access to information that can be used for the betterment of society. For example, my grandfather who lives in a remote village in rural India is able to leverage the Internet to learn about and implement the latest irrigation techniques on his farm, which have helped increase the yield significantly.

a cardiac surgeon combining healthcare with technology to drive innovation in the medical field and improve the quality of patient care.
