FallGuard:A Realtime Fall Detection System for Home Safety

About the Idea

Meet Kevin. Kevin built a real-time fall detection system that uses video analysis and smart alerts to protect older adults at home—even in the dark—by recognizing falls with high accuracy and low latency on everyday devices.

Why did you enter the 3M Young Scientist Challenge?

I entered the 3M Young Scientist Challenge because I wanted to share my invention and see how far I could take it with the help of real scientists. I've spent a lot of time working on my fall detection system, and I believe it has the potential to help people. This challenge seemed like a great chance to get feedback, improve my ideas, and take my work further.

What is your favorite invention of the last 100 years, and why?

My favorite invention of the last 100 years is probably the internet. It's something I use every day for talking with friends, watching videos, learning new things, and even doing schoolwork. The internet connects people from all over the world and makes it easy to share ideas and information. It's hard to imagine life without it now, and that's why I think it's one of the most important and useful inventions ever.

In 15 years I hope to be...

In 15 years, I hope to be working as an engineer or scientist, creating technology that helps people in their daily lives. I want to keep learning, solving problems, and building things that make a real difference.

"Small ideas can lead to big changes if you care enough to build them."
