Wind Turbine Efficiencies

About the Idea

Meet Jordan. Jordan Prawira invented a wind turbine inspired by hurricane formation concepts to improve the performance and efficiency of current wind turbines.

Why did you enter the 3M Young Scientist Challenge?

I entered to help raise awareness of my potential solution to the pollution problem and to inspire other people to find new way to live a more eco-friendly life! The 3M Young Scientist Challenge can also help me get feedback on how to improve my project and learn about other subjects. I can also learn about how other people are tackling problems and new ways on how to solve others.

What is your favorite invention of the last 100 years, and why?

To me, the best invention is the 3D printer, because it is very versatile in use and can model and create useful items. The programs vary in difficulty, as the beginning ones rather straightforward and others increase in difficulty until you create complex mechanics. I also used 3D printing in my project to design and print my turbines.

In 15 years I hope to be...

an engineer. Engineering helps create efficient and clean ways to produce energy. I would design wind turbines and other sources of green energy, my invention could be used to produce non-polluting power around the globe!

Let’s make Alternative energy no longer alternative!
