Veda Murthy

Veda was awarded the Science in Your Community Grant for their work on the Vishnu Murthy Foundation – a non-profit organization focusing on struggling teens and young adults in socio economically disadvantaged communities to provide them mental health care packages, STEM tutoring services and project-based learning in honor of their late brother, Vishnu.

About their Project

Through the foundation, they have been engaging and have led impactful programs such as teen mental health drives, food drives for teens in crisis, and advocacy for suicide prevention to prevent families from going through heartbreak from the loss of loved ones.

They plan to implement more programs and create new opportunities by including STEM education via tutoring, mentoring, project-based learning, career counseling, mental health awareness, etc.

What was the inspiration behind your project?

When my brother passed away 3 years ago due to mental health crisis, our family found a purpose through our pain and established a foundation to honor his legacy and carry his vision to create a plain field for disadvantaged students.
