Optimized Diesel Particulate Filter Design
Meet Rohit. Wanting to eliminate untimely deaths due to air pollution, Rohit invented a device to control pollution from diesel automobiles by optimizing particulate filters. Through researching filter cell designs, Rohit found that his invention not only has the capability to save 250 million gallons of fuel per year, but also reducing particulate matter and saving lives all around the world.
Why did you enter the Young Scientist Challenge?
I entered the Young Scientist Challenge to take advantage of the opportunity being offered to middle school students. I had a great idea and wanted to showcase it. If I am fortunate enough to win, it will open doors to new experiences and opportunities.
What is your favorite invention of the last 100 years, and why?
My favorite invention of the last 100 years is the computer. The computer is an amazingly useful device and almost essential for every home. Every industry uses computers to make their processes more efficient. Progress has accelerated since the advent of computers. What impresses me most is their use in Computer Aided Surgery where complex operation can be done with improved precision and sometimes even remotely.

well on my way to becoming a renowned surgeon. I want to be well-know so people think of me when there is a life to be saved. I feel I am mentally strong and up for the challenges of any complex case I may encounter through my career.
