Prion Scanner

About the Idea

My new innovation would be to create a scanner with a programmed chip that would learn how to recogize PrP^Sc found in deer or elk in that area. As the scanner looks through the lymph nodes, obex, or tonsils, it will be going through the programmed information and if it notices the slightest trace of PrP^Sc it will mean that likely the deer has CWD.

Why did you enter the 3M Young Scientist Challenge?

I entered the competition to demonstrate my scientific skill and represent the best state in the whole US.

What is your favorite invention of the last 100 years, and why?

Honestly there is a lot to choose from, but I would have to say a plasma cutter. I am kind of an on hands kinda of guy so when you combine coding and metal works together it comes out in something that attracts me to that tech.

In 15 years I hope to be...

In 15 years I hope to be either a Game and Fish warden or a Large Carnivore biologist at the Wyoming Game and Fish.
